Hair transplants for women are getting more popular

Hair transplants for women do occur but they are less than 5% of the total hair transplant procedures done in total.  Hair loss in women is most often due to genetics.  There are however instances of hair loss that are related to vitamin and mineral deficiencies and diseases.  If there has been extensive hair loss, hair transplants for women are not recommended.

Hair transplants for women can work well for female pattern baldness with mild to moderate hair loss.  Any thing beyond that, one should consider getting a hairpiece.  Although less than 5% of hair transplants are done on women, approximately 20% of all women will develop androgenetic (male like) pattern of thinning hair mostly on top.

Hair transplants for women often have an advantage over men as they usually retain many of the hairs at their hairline.  Grafting can start just behind the hairline which will assist greatly in more naturally looking transplants. There are a number of surgeons who perform this procedure so your best bet is to meet with one for a consultation.
